Founding Declaration
View the original declarationEpoch Capital is an investment platform that forms and backs companies expanding productive capacity and strengthening strategic resilience.
Purpose
Economic strength, security, and sovereignty depend on the ability to produce—and to sustain that ability under pressure. Epoch exists to expand productive capacity and strengthen the resilience of essential systems across energy, computation, production, and defense. We see a long-term shift of capital toward technologies and companies that create new capabilities, reduce critical dependencies, and keep these systems working as conditions change. We call this the Productive Capacity Supercycle.
Investment Approach
Through Category Foresight, we identify essential capabilities, critical dependencies, and the customers whose demand can sustain a market. Technical advances, supply constraints, and purchasing commitments inform our judgment before their significance is visible in company revenues. We seek Structural Mispricing where our research supports greater potential than consensus has priced in.
We partner with founders whose companies grow from deep experience and sustained commitment to a problem. We connect technical progress to customer requirements and help assemble the talent, industrial relationships, and financing required for adoption.
Company Formation
When we have conviction in a category and see a clear need for a new company, we help form it. We work with a founder to define what must be built, assemble the initial team, and structure its initial financing around the risks that must be resolved first.
Principles
We begin with what must be built. A consequential category, a strong company, and an attractive investment require separate judgments. We concentrate capital with discipline on price, risk, and future financing needs. Every thesis must state what would prove it wrong. Capital must fit the time and work required to reach adoption.
Standard
We are responsible for the capital entrusted to us and the trust placed in our judgment. We measure our work by capabilities delivered, durable businesses built, and investment returns. Our conduct must earn the confidence of founders, investors, colleagues, and institutional partners.
